BHEL to lead on Telangana state’s 6000 MW of new plants

India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TS Genco) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for construction of 6000 MW of power generation capacity in India’s newest State over the next three years.

The MoU was signed by D. Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of TS Genco, and B. Prasad Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

TS Genco currently has an installed power generating capacity of only 4364 MW, including both its thermal and hydroelectric portfolio.

BHEL will be exclusively responsible for developing the 6000 MW of new thermal power, and will manage the projects through from the feasibility stage through design, construction and logistical support.

BHEL has experience of organising new Indian thermal power projects from its plant builds in Telangana, Bhupalapally, Singareni Colleries and Kothagudem.
