BCPG recently signed a shareholders’ agreement with Eternity Power for the acquisition of 99.99 per cent of shares in RPV Energy, the operator of four solar plants across three provinces in Thailand. The plants, which have already started commercial operation, are: a 5 MW power plant in Lop Buri, a 5 MW facility in Prachin Buri, and two facilities with a combined capacity of 10 MW in Kanchanaburi.

Bundit Sapianchai, President of BCPG, said that the company expects to start gaining revenue from the four plants in Q3 of 2020, based on the government’s two electricity purchase schemes: an adder tariff for 15 MW, and a feed-in tariff for one of the 5 MW plants. Sapianchai said: “The acquisition is in line with BCPG’s five-year plan, which aims to invest in various types of renewable energy businesses and develop the company’s existing facilities.”

BCPG plans to increase its power generation capacity to 842 MW from 452 MW by 2024. Sapianchai said that BCPG is in talks to purchase a 100-200 MW solar farm in Laos that is currently under construction for $100-200 million.
