Areva’s Transmission and Distribution division and the main shareholder of Vamp, the Finnish-based specialist in arc protection and protection relays, announced that they have signed an agreement for Areva T&D to acquire Vamp.
Vamp’s protection relays are used in a number of applications from industrial to distribution power systems and power plants. Areva T&D believes that this acquisition will give it a substantial market share in Nordic countries. The acquisition is also expected to enable Areva T&D to add new features and to complement its existing portfolio of protection relays.
Errki Raunio, Chairman of the Board of Vamp, said: “By joining Areva T&D, Vamp sales network will expand, enabling our organisation to grow stronger and continue to invest in product development.”
