The government of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has proposed to set up 10,000MW of solar power to meet the energy requirements of the agricultural sector. The government has already issued an order to set up the Andhra Pradesh Green Energy Corporation Limited, as a subsidiary of the Power Generation Corporation of AP, to erect the solar power plants.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy asked officials to focus on making these plants successful, and to also plan for expansion. He also asked solar and wind energy companies that come forward to sell power at a lower price.
