AGL Energy has announced that it has made a final investment decision to proceed with the A$490 million Kwinana Gas Power Generation 2 project in Western Australia, Australia.
The 220 MW gas-fired facility will feature an open-cycle, dual-fuel turbine located next to the company’s existing Kwinana site. Construction is due to start in mid-2026, with operations expected to begin by Q4 2027.
The Australian Energy Market Operator has allocated a 176 MW reserve capacity to the plant.
