The Son My 2 project is expected to be financially closed in 2021, and begin commercial operations in 2024.

AES is also investing in gas infrastructure in Vietnam with the previously announced Son My 2 LNG terminal. The LNG facility received Government approval in August.

Andrés Gluski, President and CEO of AES, said: “AES is committed to the country’s economic growth and energy transition through the development of gas and renewable infrastructure. We appreciate that the Government of Vietnam has selected us to advance this critical project for the country.”
