ADB to support solar development in Pakistan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide technical and financial support for increased development of solar power and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Pakistan.

Emma Xiaoqin Fan, ADB’s Country Director for Pakistan, said: “ADB is conducting studies on the impact of rooftop solar and BESS in the power sector.” She added that ADB is interested in developing the energy sector and supporting new initiatives such as digitisation, integrated planning, data governance, privatisation, and institutional governance in Pakistan.

Fan also highlighted capacity-building programmes, including specialised training opportunities for power sector professionals to build skills and support reforms.
