Adani Power has secured a €2.5 billion contract to develop a 2400 MW greenfield coal-fired power plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, India.
The plant will consist of three 800 MW ultra-supercritical units.
The contract includes a 25-year PPA with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL). Adani Power said that the project will create 10-12 000 jobs during construction and 3000 once operational.
Power demand in India is predicted to rise sharply, with peak demand expected to rise from the current 250 GW to 400 GW by 2032, and over 700 GW by 2047.
