ABO Energy plans development of 600 MW Finnish green hydrogen plant

The German renewable energy company ABO Energy has signed a cooperation agreement with the City of Oulu to progress plans for a 600 MW green hydrogen plant in the city.

The agreement will involve project development, land-use planning, permitting, and required studies for the site. This is due to scale up to 600 MW across two to three phases. In addition, ABO Energy is assessing opportunities to produce e-methanol and synthetic aviation fuel at the site, with waste heat to be used within Oulu’s district heating network.

ABO Energy said that it expects the first phase of the plant to go online between 2034 and 2036.
