The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam has convened a technical meeting to develop a road map for transition from coal-fired power generation to sustainable alternatives.
The meeting for the road map will cover policies and technologies required for the transition; the best techniques; costs, benefits, and potential impacts while discussing decommissioning options for the coal-fired plants. It will also facilitate meetings with existing and potential investors in the energy sector to explore future investment opportunities.
Ramla Khalidi, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam, said that it was important to ensure a fair and comprehensive transition process, and to coordinate effort among the stakeholders.
