Valmet’s delivery will include a 140 MW BFB boiler plant utilising bubbling fluidised bed technology as well as a flue gas cleaning system and a flue gas condensing system. Start-up of the plant is scheduled for 2025. In addition, Valmet will supply a boiler building and piping to connect the new boiler to the existing steam turbine. Valmet will also supply O&M services.

The new boiler will be integrated with Göteburg Energi’s existing Rya power plant. The boiler is estimated to be able to contribute 156 MW of heat and 39 MW of electricity to the local energy system.

The plant can run of several different types of biofuels. It will mainly use forestry chips and recycled return wood from the region.
