US coal-fired power generation rose 42.1 per cent month on month in June, with increased summer power demand driving more burn, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Power sector coal stocks totalled 185.4 million st in June, down 5.3 per cent, or almost 10.3 million st, from May, but up 11 per cent from June 2015. Stockpiles are 8.4 per cent above the five-year average.
