New statistics from the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) show that the total wind capacity in the country grew by 126.3 MW last year, bringing the total output to 409.5 MW.

Due to Russian activity in the Crimea and eastern Ukraine, however, the UWEA has halved projections for wind farm capacity for 2015. It had expected to have 900-1000 MW of wind power this year but now forecasts 550 MW.

The UWEA chairman, Andrei Konechenkov, noted in a statement that the Ukrainian renewable energy sector is under threat, as the national commission has been refusing to revise the tariffs for green electricity.
