Two Wisconsin utilities to partner on $390 million solar projects

Wisconsin Public Service, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, and Madison Gas and Electric have announced a plan to invest $390 million into two solar power projects that would be the first of their size in Wisconsin, USA. Applications for approval of the projects were filed with state regulators on 31 May.

The two solar projects will generate a combined 300 MW. The first project will be built near Montfort, in Iowa County, in southwestern Wisconsin. The second project will be built in Two Creeks, near Point Beach nuclear power station in northeast Wisconsin. The project in Iowa County is being developed by Invenergy. The project in Two Creeks will be developed by NextEra Energy.

WPS and MG&E will buy 300 MW of capacity once the projects are completed. WPS would own 200 MW and MG&E 100 MW.
