The 766 MW combined cycle plant is powered by GE’s H-class equipment, including the first 7HA.01 gas turbines ordered in Mexico. Topolobampo III is intended to help address the growing energy demand of Mexico’s population, which the IEA expects to grow from the current 127 million to 150 million by 2050. Mexico’s government plans to more than double current renewable capacity from 15 GW to 40 GW by 2030; Topolobampo III will aid in balancing power supply.

Topolobampo III uses two of GE Vernova’s 7HA.01 gas turbines, a D650 steam turbine, three H53 generators, and advanced plant control systems enabling the ability to use real-time data. The two HRSGs were supplied by CERREY, GE Vernova’s local HRSG technology licensee.
