Türkiye to boost renewable energy share

Türkiye is aiming to boost the share of renewable energy in its generation of electricity to 47.8 per cent by 2025 according to a report by the Anadolu Agency .

The proposal outlines plans to increase the contributions of solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower in the energy mix. According to data from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation, Türkiye currently has an installed capacity of 32 195 MW from hydropower, 12 369 MW from wind, 18 756 MW from solar, and 1691 MW from geothermal. The country plans to expand these to 32 395 MW, 14 800 MW, 22 600 MW, and 4487 MW respectively.

Anadolu said that it expects the share of electricity generation from renewable sources to rise from 42.7 per cent in 2023, to 45 per cent by the end of 2025, and to 47.8 per cent by the end of 2025.
