At 579 MW, the project is the world’s largest solar plant eclipsing the current largest projects – two 550 MW projects owned by First Solar.

Werner said that "construction of project is on plan with more than 412 MW (AC) connected to the grid, and with substantial completion expected by the end of the second quarter". This would put the project nearly 6 months ahead of schedule.

Solar Star owned by BHE Solar, a subsidiary of Warren Buffet's Berkshire Highway Hathaway Energy, will provide enough power for 255 000 homes. Power is being bought by Southern California Edison under a long-term purchase agreement.
