France’s electricity grid operator RTE has said that a strike in the French power sector has reduced generation at EDF’s 1300 MW St Alban 1 nuclear reactor by around 80 per cent. Data from RTE showed that output at St Alban 1 was at 260 MW at 2200 GMT on 21 January.
RTE said that EDF had been warned on Sunday of a 24-hour strike at its power generation units in France starting Monday January 21 at 2000 GMT. RTE said that the strike had also impacted electricity output at EDF’s 1200 MW Cordemais 4 and 5 coal-fired units. Output at Cordemais 4 was down over 32 per cent, at 392 MW, while Cordemais 5 was off-line.
