Several South Korean companies are getting involved in generating offshore wind power.
SK E&S , a leading South Korean gas provider which recently contracted a 200 MW offshore solar power generation project in the waters near the Saemangeum seawall, is planning to launch an 800 MW offshore wind power plant.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has unveiled its intention to boost the annual revenue of its offshore wind power business to over $860 million over the next five years. Hyundai Heavy Industries , POSCO , and Doosan Heavy are set to participate in the 200 MW Donghae 1 Floating Offshore Wind Power project being developed by Korea National Oil using the Donghae 1 gas field production facilities.
Steelmaker SeAH Steel Corporation will participate in the UK’s offshore wind programme, supplying key parts.
Early in September, Korea Electric Power Corporation ( KEPCO ) established an offshore wind power generation division.
