South Korea has announced that it will construct a gigantic wind power plant complex on the country’s south-western coast by the end of 2019. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy has announced its plan to build the nation’s largest offshore wind power complex with a 25 GW generation capacity.
The ministry said that the project will cost $9 billion in total over the next 8 years as South Korea bids to become the world’s third largest wind power generator. The ministry has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 15 companies, including the state-run Korea Electricity Power Corporation, and two provincial governments, to build an offshore wind farm in the West Sea.
