The plant will add its power to the national grid, providing around 164 GWh to help power some 49 525 South African homes.

South Africa is rich in renewable resources and the REIPPP has been instrumental in exploring that potential through a number of high-profile projects that have seen the country become the continent’s leading proponent of clean energy. A 2015 report from the World Bank stated that falling technology costs have helped foster growth of renewable consumption, particularly solar PV.
