SNC-Lavalin and ABB have formed a new joint venture called Linxon which will undertake turnkey electrical substation projects. Linxon will undertake AC electrical substation projects. Its scope of work will include project design, engineering, procurement, construction, management, commissioning, and after-sales support.
The joint-venture will have an opening order backlog of $340 million.
Marie-Claude Dumas, Chair of the Board of Directors of Linxon, and President of Clean Power for SNC-Lavalin, said: “We are delighted to join forces with ABB and bring together our respective strengths to deliver sustainable energy solutions for substations.”
Claudio Facchin, President of ABB’s Power Grids Division, said: “This joint venture will help capture new business opportunities for both companies and reinforces our strategy of forging new alliances and business models.”
SNC-Lavalin has a majority and controlling interest in the new joint venture.
