Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) is continuing to develop plans to further develop its 700 MW Calaca coal-fired power plant in Batangas province, Philippines.

Isidro Consunji, Chairman and CEO of SMPC, ruled out the possibility of purchasing existing plants instead. He said: “We are open to purchasing other plants, but the prices being offered in the market make it better for us to pursue developing plants rather than purchase existing plants.”

SMPC is the administrator of the Calaca plant, through its subsidiary St Raphael Power Generation Corporation.
