The plant’s construction phase is expected to take five years.

The agreement states that Singyes will use its resources and experience in distributed power generation to support the solar power station’s development.

This support will represent part of Singyes' initiative to contribute toward developing a regional green industry and a clean-energy development zone.

Minqin County is situated in the north-eastern part of the Gansu Corridor and with 94 per cent of the area composed of desert, or undergoing desertification, it is the ideal region for development of China’s solar PV power generation industry.

It is also hoped the solar project will provide an opportunity to support local desertification control and ecological improvement projects.
