Siemens has received five orders for a total of 23 direct-drive wind turbines. Two of the wind farms are in Germany’s northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein, with the other three to be located in Lower Saxony. Installation of all five projects is due to be completed by spring 2017.

The first Siemens model SWT-3.3-130 wind turbine to be installed in Germany will be erected in Schleswig-Holstein by the end of 2016 in Südermarsch. Six other wind turbines of this model make up the Damme Wind Farm project in Lower Saxony. Because of the wind conditions at this site, Siemens will install the units on steel tube towers with a hub height of 135 m.

Siemens is installing five model SWT-3.0-113 wind turbines for the Beedenbostel Wind Farm near Celle in Lower Saxony. These units are replacing five older turbines at the farm as part of a repowering project.
