EnBW, the owner of Hohe See, has made a final investment decision for the 497 offshore wind power plant. Starting in early 2018, the wind park will be constructed at a site 90 km north of the German island Borkum in the North Sea, as water depths of up to 40 m. Siemens will install 71 SWT-7.0-154 turbines, each rated at 7 MW. Commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2019.

Siemens began development of project-specific solutions in 2016 for the foundations, resulting in the development of a large monopole design up to 80 m long and weighing up to 1500 tons.

Siemens is partnering with logistics specialist GeoSea for the Hohe See project. After commissioning, Siemens will carry out service and maintenance for at least five years.
