Siemens has received an order to build a new cogeneration plant in the Marzahn district of Berlin. The company will act as general contract for Vattenfall Europe Wärme to construct this natural gas-fired power plant with district heating.
The cogeneration facility is scheduled to start operation in 2020. The plant will have an electrical generating capacity of 260 MW, and a thermal capacity of 230 MW. The order awarded to Siemens also includes a long-term service agreement.
Siemens will supply the gas turbine, steam turbine, and two electrical generators, along with the HRSG. The unit will be in a multi-shaft configuration, and will achieve a fuel efficiency rating of 90 per cent. The gas turbine will be built at Siemens’ factory in Berlin, with the steam turbine and generators being built at Görlitz and Erfurt respectively.
