Siemens has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unión Eléctrica (UNE), the Cuban state-owned utility to modernise the energy infrastructure of the country. The partners agreed to discuss projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution, and includes the opportunity for Siemens to supply power generating technology to existing and future power plant projects in Cuba.
Cuba’s Ministry of Energy and Mines has set a goal of modernising the electricity system in order to provide reliable, cost-efficient energy, and introduce renewable energy generation supply for over 11 million people.
