Siemens has secured an order in the USA for the re-powering of Cooperative Energy’s RD Morrow Sr Generating Station facility in Purvis, Mississippi. The customer will use Siemens’ HL gas turbine technology to re-power the facilities existing coal-powered steam turbine.
The natural gas-fuelled combined cycle power plant will have an installed capacity of 550 MW,
Cooperative Energy will re-power one of its existing coal-fired units with a SiemensSGT6-9000HL gas turbine. The scope of supply also includes an SGen6-3000W generator and the SPPA-T3000 control system. Siemens has also been awarded a long-term service agreement, which will help support the gas turbine and generator’s optimal operating efficiency during the life cycle of the project.
This is the third order that the company has received for its new HL-class gas turbine. The other two plants currently under construction using HL technology are in North Carolina, USA, and Lincolnshire, UK.
