Spanish wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa has announced that it has started to produce recyclable offshore wind turbine blades for commercial use.
Wind turbine blades are generally large and non-recyclable and at the end of the service life end up in landfills. This has started to attract the attention and criticism of environmental groups.
Siemens Gamesa claimed in its announcement that it was the first company to produce recyclable wind turbine blades. Vestas unveiled technology in May that it claimed enabled wind turbine blades to be fully recycled.
