Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has won its fifth nearshore wind farm project in Vietnam, the 78 MW Hiep Thanh wind farm. The wind farm will be located 1-3 km off the coast of Tra Vinh Province.

The project is being developed by EcoTech Tra Vinh Renewables , and its investors, Janakuasa, EcoTech Vietnam, Climate Investor One – which is managed by Climate Fund Managers (CFM) – and ST International. SGRE formed a consortium with PowerChina Huadong Engineering to deliver and EPC offering to the customer.

The wind farm will have 18 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbine, which will be among the largest on the Vietnam market. The wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned in Q3 of 2021. In addition, SGRE has signed a 10-year contract to supply O&M services.

SGRE has built three wind farms in Vietnam, with seven more under construction. SGRE has sold approximately 550 MW of wind turbines in Vietnam in the last three years.
