Siemens has approached Emerson Electric to explore the acquisition of Emerson’s network power business in a deal said to be worth $4 billion. A deal would allow Emerson to focus on its core businesses by selling network power in one deal rather than spinning it off.

In June 2015, Emerson announced that it was seeking to spin off its network power business and was examining options for its other non-core activities, including motors and drives, power generation, and its remaining storage businesses. Collectively, these assets generate around $200 million in annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation.
