Shaanxi’s electricity consumption up 26.4 per cent in Jan-Apr

North China’s Shaanxi province saw its electricity use increase 26.4 per cent year on year to 286.52 TWh in the first four months of 2010, according to statistics from the Shaanxi Statistics Bureau. Leading the way in this increase was the chemical industry, which saw electricity consumption rise 57 per cent year on year to 2.33 TWh. Industrial enterprises in the province consumed 18.84 TWh of electricity over the period, 30.9 per cent more than in the corresponding period of 2009.

The electricity consumption of the ferrous metal smelting industry grew 47.9 per cent year on year to 1.63 TWh, and that of the non-ferrous metal smelting industry was 2.15 TWh, up 30.8 per cent year on year.
