The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited renewable energy companies to put forward bids to set up 1200 MW each of wind and solar power plants. The Indian Government has set a total target for renewable capacity addition for FY19 of 15,600 MW, including 10,000 MW of wind and 4000 MW of solar power.
About 11,778 MW of renewable power was added in FY18, failing to achieve the target of 14,500 MW.
To promote inter-state sale of renewable power, the Government has waived the inter-state transmission charges for wind and solar projects commissioned by March 2022. The Indian Government has set a target of achieving 175 GW of renewable capacity by 2022.
