QatarEnergy has announced plans to develop a new 2 GW solar power project, to be built in the Dukhan area, approximately 80 km west of Doha, Qatar’s capital city.
The new power plant will help Qatar reach its goal of reaching an overall solar capacity of 4 GW by 2030.
The new solar project will be added to QatarEnergy’s solar power portfolio, which includes the existing 800 MW Al-Kharsaah solar power plant inaugurated in 2022, and to two solar power projects that the company is building in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed, with a total capacity of 875 MW, and which are expected to start production before the end of 2024.
