Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) of the USA has formally submitted a proposal to the California Public Utilities Commission to shut down the state’s last operating nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon.

Geisha Williams, President of PG&E, said: “This action represents a major milestone. Retiring nuclear power plants and replacing them with energy efficiency and solar is good for California’s environment and good for our economy.”
