The British utility Npower , a subsidiary of the German RWE, will announce that it will cut 2500 UK jobs, more than 20 per cent of its UK workforce. The formal announcement is expected on March 8, when RWE releases Npower’s full year results. Npower declined to comment on the news.
In December 2015, Npower was fined £26 million by Ofgem , the UK electricity and gas regulator, for “failing to treat customers fairly.” Ofgem also warned Npower that it will be barred from selling its services if it fails to improve by the end of June 2016.
