New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that largest state investment in renewable energy in US history.
The conditional awards include three offshore wind and 22 land-based renewable energy projects totalling 6.4 GW, and will deliver approximately 12 per cent of New York’s electricity needs once completed. In addition, there will be two new manufacturing facilities, for offshore wind turbine blades and nacelles.
The announcement supports progress towards New York’s goal for 70 per cent of the state’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2030 and for 9 GW of offshore wind by 2035.

In addition, New York also announced its latest round of land-based large-scale renewable awards, consisting of 14 new solar projects, six wind repowering projects, one new wind project, and one return-to-service hydropower project, totalling a combined 2410 MW.
