New solar PV plant under construction in Benin

Benin has started construction of the 25 MW Forsun PV plant, which will expand the total capacity of the Illoulofin solar power plant to 75 MW. The Benin Government said that the project is supported by a $25.8 million investment.

The statement from the Benin Government said: “The Forsun project is the result of a fruitful cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD) and the EU, which are contributing a total investment of $25.8 million. This infrastructure, located in Illoulofin in the commune of Pobè in the Plateau department, enriches Benin’s energy matrix with clean and renewable energy, in line with the sustainable development goals.”
