The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has announced a new schedule of load shedding for the Punjab. According to the new schedule, load shedding will take place for 5-6 hours/day in urban areas, and 10-12 hours/day in rural areas.

According to a PEPCO official, electricity shortfall between demand and supply has risen to 2000MW. The Sui Northern Gas Company has cut the gas supply, and the power generation shortfalls at Bhaki Sheikhurpura, Faisalabad, and Kot Addu have reached 400MW. In addition, the Guddu power plant has been shut down due to technical problems in the 500kV transmission line of Hubco Jamshoro.
