Netherlands in discussions with suppliers to build new nuclear power plants

Rob Jetten, Energy Minister of the Netherlands, said in a letter to parliament, that the country is in discussions with “three potential and interested suppliers” to build two new nuclear power plants.

The three suppliers under consideration are Westinghouse of the USA, the French state-owned company EDF , and South Korea’s Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co., ( KHNP ).

The Netherlands is planning to build two new nuclear power plants by 2035, and these will play an important role in the country’s energy transition, as it aims to make its power production carbon neutral by 2040.
