NEPRA issues generation licences to three hydropower projects

Pakistan’s National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued generation licences to three small hydropower plants that will generate a combined capacity of 7MW. The projects that have been issued licences include: SAR Energy (1.3MW); Reshun Power Plant (4.2MW); and Shishi Power Plant (1.875MW).

NEPRA said that for sustainable development, all indigenous power generation resources must be developed urgently. It said that the continuously increasing trend in fuel prices is creating pressure on foreign exchange reserves, and the use of imported furnace oil was an environmental concern.
