The Tipaimukh project will be located in the Churachandpur district of Manipur. The project is conceived as a multipurpose storage project with the main objective of hydropower generation along with agricultural assistance for the downstream region.

The plant would generate an estimated 3800 GWh per year, and the likely completion period is 7.5 years from CCEA clearance.
