Mitsubishi Power has started operation of the first M701JAC unit at phase two of a gas-fired power plant contract, this for a plant in Rayong Province, Thailand. Phase one, in Chonburi Province, consists of four units, making this the fifth of eight units to be delivered as part of a full turnkey 5300 MW contract.
The Rayong plant is located 130 km southeast of Bangkok. It is owned and operated by Gulf PD Company, a joint venture by Gulf Energy Development and Mitsui. Power generated from the plant will be sold to Thailand’s state power company Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
This milestone is part of a turnkey contract for the construction of two CCGT facilities in Chonburi and Rayong provinces, each comprising four power trains consisting of a gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, and generator.
