MENA needs $150 billion investment in power generation

A joint report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) said that strong economic and demographic growth has led to an increase in energy demand to in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The report estimates that investments worth $150 billion will be needed for power generation from 2013. Of this, $63 billion will be in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, $21.5 billion in Iran, and the remainder in the combined other countries of the region.
