Despite reassurances by the Philippine government, power shortages in Luzon and Mindanao have worsened as energy supply deficits continue to grow. Both islands have again been placed on red alert. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said that the electricity supply deficit has reached 641MW in Luzon and 700MW in Mindanao. The Visayas grid posted supply reserves of 53MW, but this was not enough to allow the grid to export power to Luzon.
