Kenya was hit by a nationwide power blackout on 4 March, which the electricity distributor Kenya Power said was caused by a “system disturbance”.
Kenya Power said in a statement: “Initial reports indicate that the outage was caused by a fault that occurred on the Suswa-Loyangalani high-voltage power transmission line. We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible.”
Power was restored to parts of Kenya after a few hours. Kenya Power said that power had been restored to parts of Nairobi, as well as parts of Eldoret, Kisumu, and Nakuru.
Kenya Power is the country’s sole electricity distributor, and the bulk of its power comes from Kenya Electricity Generating Company , which is the main producer.
