Joint electricity grid between Egypt and Sudan to start operating in January

Ayman Hamza, a spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said that a 50MW grid connection between the Egyptian and Sudanese electricity grids will start operation on 12 January, 2020. He said: “The grid voltage is 220kV, and covers a distance of about 1000km.” Hamza noted that upgrades to the connection are being undertaken to ensure that the grid capacity will exceed 50MW in the future.
