The Japanese Government has released a white paper that calls for cuts in costs levied on consumers to further promote power generation from renewable energy sources. The government aims to make renewable energy Japan’s main power source to achieve its greenhouse gas reduction targets set in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

The annual report on energy said that the costs of electricity generation using renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, are higher in Japan than international levels.
