The Japanese government has said that its industrial heartland must cut electricity use by 10 percent this summer, as the country continues to deal with the shortfall in energy supply as it recovers from the Fukushima disaster.
The government said that the expected shortfall would not be as bad as had originally been thought, following the restart of two nuclear reactors at the Oi nuclear plant. Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda had previously said that a 15 percent cut in peak electricity usage in and around Osaka from July to September was likely.
